Flash Mob at Salemtowne

Residents dining in the Dorcas Dining Room got a surprise on November 30th when members of the therapy department along with a handful of residents performed a flash mob to the song made popular by the Village People – YMCA. Sally Reed, Rehab Director, spearheaded this event as one of the many activities during “therapy week”. This year’s theme was “move beyond
your limits” and “what better way to do this was to create a flash mob” stated Sally.

Flash mobs originated in 2003 according to Wikipedia. They define a flash mob (or flashmob) as a group of people who assemble suddenly in a public place, perform an unusual and sometimes seemingly pointless act for a brief time, then disperse, often for the purposes of entertainment, satire, and/or artistic expression.

Sally and the therapy department had a lot of fun with creating the flash mob. She was especially pleased to see onlookers stand up and join in the fun of the dance.
