Amanda Kistler, Director of Nursing at Salemtowne, has been awarded the 2011 Nursing Administrator of the Year for the Southeast Region by the National Association Directors of Nursing Administration Long Term Care (NADONALTC). She was awarded this honor at the 24th Annual Conference held in Kissimmee Florida on July 19th.
Kistler was also inducted into the Academy of Fellows during the Awards Banquet. The NADONALTC Academy of Fellows is established to serve as a forum for educational guidance and provision to Directors of Nursing in Long Term Care who have achieved certification. The purpose of the Academy of Fellows is to recognize superior achievement and dedication to long term care, to foster and support high professional standards, to recognize the development of leadership qualities, and to strengthen commitment to the purposes of the profession and association.
Kistler also currently serves as the President of the NC Chapter of NADONALTC and is instrumental in planning the annual NCNADONA conference in September. She has served as a nurse, consultant, and Director of Nursing in long term care in her career of more than 20 years. Kistler especially enjoys her volunteer work with No Limits II, a group that hosts monthly dances as well as an annual prom for a joyful group of special needs adults.
