Salemtowne WithOut Walls (WOW)
“This morning, we joined about 18 Salemtowne residents for a walk and tour of the magnificent Quarry Park. It was just a spectacular outing. There were some of us who were able to walk several miles on the trails, several who walked with walkers, one who propelled himself in his wheelchair and one in a motorized chair. The one big thing that unified us all was that we all had big smiles on our faces and we enjoyed the time exercising and socializing, understanding and appreciating how an ugly quarry was reimagined into a beautiful park. It was exhilarating to be outside on a beautiful day and to go to a place most had never visited. We saw red-tailed hawks soaring and flowers blooming. We were grateful for Spring. Most of all, a huge thank you to Laura who organized this event. She made such an effort to assure that our Salemtowne neighbors of all abilities could go to a WithOut Walls ( WOW ) outing. Last month, we gathered at the Long Branch Trail and on April 29, we will go to Salem Lake. These outings are just a fabulous example of Laura assuring that we embody our onPointe credo of combining our physical, intellectual, social and spiritual lives. At Quarry Park today, we experienced all of these. Gene and I are so grateful to have Laura as our leader. She has elevated our programming to an exceptional level.”
